Volunteering is an opportunity to grow, and train for, an altruistic human awareness. Students can give their time to serve others while discovering how much they receive back in return.
Every Wednesday night some residents go to Central Railway Station of Milan to help out the italian association “Gruppo Divina Misericordia” to distribute food and clothes to those in need.
A different kind of voluntary work involves the ONLUS “CasAmica” which strives to find housing for those who come to Milan for health reasons
Every year Torrescalla’s students spend part of their summer vacations volunteering abroad.
Since 1999 Rui Foundation has been promoting a work camp for undergraduates in Nicaragua. Every summer our students offer an important help to the local population.
Since 1993 Rui’s residents have also been working with the Romania WorkCamp, an action born from the desire of Italian students to help people living in poverty or disadvantaged situations.
There is no shortage of sports activities in the daily life at the Residence. At Torrescalla students can practise tennis, volleyball, futsal and basketball.
The 15×10 meter swimming pool is open from May to October.
Every year Torrescalla participates in a football Championship, called TIAS, that our students won several times.
Moreover, piano concerts (from classical to jazz), conferences, congresses, and theater performances make Torrescalla’s assembly hall a place where, every year, leading players from the worlds of art, music, literature, current events and professionals come together.
The Inauguration of the academic year, the Alumni Christmas lunch and the party with residents’ families in May are among the most significant events that take place every year.
Torrescalla is a place where passion for every dimension of human nature is stimulated, with the genuine university spirit: open to truth and respectful of everyone’s freedom.
The Hall of Residence provides the opportunity to confront important questions about human existence.
Torrescalla follows some traditions that every Christian family does and we celebrate the Holy Mass. The chaplain is available to all students.
Participation in these activities is always voluntary and the Residence is open to students of any religious denomination.
Among the different activities proposed at our residence, there is Torrescalla’s choir, that accompanies the Sunday Holy Mass and the celebrations during important moments of the year (inauguration of the Academical Year, parents day, Christmas and Easter).
